Similar in presentation and structure to the other titles in this series, Mediterranean houses. Italy examines a selection of twenty private houses located in different parts of the Italian coast. From Amalfi to Capri, from the Riviera to the Costa Smeralda, a great variety of landscapes and architectures combine to create settings of exceptional quality. The present selection considers some outstanding examples of modern and contemporary Italian architecture, including such prescient schemes from the thirties as Gio Ponti's villa in Bordighera and the Villa Domus in Sestri Levante by L. C. Daneri - both lately restored - as well as more recent projects by such renowned architects as Cini Boeri, Jacques Couelle, Vico Magistretti, Paolo Portoghesi and Oscar Tusquets, amongst others.
The plates which illustrate the book are the work of some of Italy's most acclaimed photographers, specialists in the field of photographing architecture and interior design: Carla de Benedetti, Aldo Ballo, Giancarlo Gardin... In addition to the photographs, each house is the subject of a descriptive text and the basic architectonic documentation.
