Gaston Leroux s novel is a marvellous blend of detective story, romance and spine-tingling terror which has fascinated readers ever since the work was first published.

Etkileyici, sürükleyici ve şaşırtıcı. Kitabın ilk sayfasından itibaren Opera'nın Hayaleti sizi sarıyor. Hayaletin aşkının tutkuya, bu tutkunun trajediye dönüşmesini adım adım takip ediyorsunuz. Gerçek olaylardan esinlenerek, farklı olayları bir araya getiren yazar ilginç bir kurgu koyuyor ortaya. Dil akıcı, sıkmıyor insanı.
Erik'in hayatını ve dehasını daha da detaylı okumak, öğrenmek isterdim. Roman için mekan olarak seçilmiş opera binası ve binanın altındaki o derin dehlizler, tuzaklar, sizi romanın içine çekiyor.
ingilizceden okumaya çalışmış olmama rağmen konusu bakımından sevdirdi. Filmi de tavsiye ederim okurken zihninizde çalması hoş :)
Kitabın fantastik görünüp gerçekliğe bağlanan kurgusu bir yana en başarılı yanı kuvvetli mekan betimlemeleri olsa gerek. Gerek opera binasının dehlizleri gerek Paris tasvirleri muazzam. Gotik edebiyat eseri sayılmakla birlikte sembolizmin de yoğun etkisi fark ediliyor. İnsani duygular ve zaaflar süslemeden uzak bir yalınlıkla aktarılmış. Klasik eserlere göre daha akıcı, neredeyse polisiye tadında bir dili var.
Klasik olmasi yuzunden sevmek zorundaymisim gibi hissediyorum ama yok cidden cok bunaltici. Donemin sartlari ,zekice yazilmis kurgusu, ıdısı bıdısı vs umurumda degil. Adam manyak ve suan ki zamanda ortalik bunun gibilerle kayniyorken okumak sinir sahibi yapiyor insani.
